Our current programme of work, Afan Erioed 2, continues Calon Afan’s mission to discover and celebrate the hidden heritage of Port Talbot and the Afan Valley. This autumn we will be revealing the hidden historical facts, colourful characters and amazing stories, all explored through two projects: ‘Legends’, and ‘Mynydd Dinas’.

In ‘Legends’ the myths and legends of the area will inspire arts workshops in drama, dance, music, storytelling and creative writing, all led by our professional practitioners. There will be a public performance to celebrate the wonderful work we all produce during the workshops in the Plaza on 22nd November.

Guided walks and metal detecting workshops on Mynydd Dinas, again led by our experienced and expert staff, will reveal some of the history and wildlife secrets of our wonderful local mountain.

The arts workshops, most of which are open for anyone to join, young or old, are all held in town centre venues, easily accessed. Activities on the Mountain, suitable for families, will be held within walking distance of a parking spot, and lifts can be arranged for those without transport.
