During our work with the Rich History Group, local historians and naturalists had suggested to us that there is much of heritage value to be found on Mynydd Dinas, which overlooks Aberafan, Baglan and Cwmafan.

In 2022 we commissioned two reports, one archaeological and one biological, to make an assessment of the heritage value of the western side of the mountain, where we suspected there might be an historic landscape.

With funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, and support from YMCA Port Talbot, the two surveys were completed, and confirmed our belief that Mynydd Dinas holds some fascinating heritage secrets.
